Our Curriculum & Learning Areas
We develop Core Learning Skills through methods that will empower the student to take charge of his/her Primary education. In order to achieve this emphasis is on holistic development of a child. The Curriculum is grouped into four parts emphasizing on Motor Skills, Academics, Arts and Personality of a student (MAAP). Every toddler is provided an equal opportunity to develop his/her own MAAP.
Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. – John F. Kennedy
Only a healthy body can pave the way for a mind that can open up and absorb what needs to be learnt. Hence at KARVE Health is wealth and health is more important than the learning of the mind. Gross motor activities involveplaying physical games and Yoga. Physical games develop confidence in managing movement challenges such as balancing, climbing, crawling, bending or stretching. Children explore new ways to move, and learn how to control these movements safely in various spaces around them, as they join in physical games. Through play, games, and Yoga, children develop their gross motor skills to prepare them for the demands of school such as handwriting, concentrating, following instructions, sport skills and team work. Health and wellness, and character education are common themes in schools today, all focusing on educating the whole child, mind, body and spirit. Yoga supports this method of learning. Yoga
- Provides students healthy ways to express and balance their emotions
- Promotes a more relaxed, comfortable state of being – the perfect state for teaching and learning
- Encourages community and connectedness within the classroom
- Helps to create an atmosphere of confidence, enthusiasm and non-competitiveness where everyone can succeed
Everything we do not have at our birth and which we need when we are grown is given to us by education. – Jean Jacques Rousseau, Emile
Academic success in a preschool is a student’s self-motivation; self-efficiency and his/her power to cope with the study environment in the later years. It is strongly linked to the positive outcomes we value. Positive self-esteem and self-confidence are critical factors in commitment to academic success.
Formal Education cannot be achieved by just the play way method. Hence it is crucial to have the right amount of Formal learning processes at this stage. At KARVE Preschool we follow the Montessori and Multiple Intelligence Approach for Formal Academic Learning in the early years. We go with the fundamental belief that a child’s early years from birth to six are the period when they have the greatest capacity to learn Languages, Math & Science. Our Academic teaching methodology aims for the fullest possible development of the child, ultimately preparing him/her to move to the next level of education.
I Dream my Painting, and then I paint my Dream. – Vincent Van Gogh
Arts are unique and powerful form of expression, in which a student explores, refines, and communicates ideas, thoughts and feelings. Art education has taken a very vital place in school education. Arts enable a student to take action, to do things, to make mistakes, to explore and search for answers. No other educational medium offers the same kind of opportunity. Development of compassion and empathy through arts bridges gaps across different cultures that lead to a respect for other cultures at an early age. Arts complete academics.
At KARVE, Arts comprises Visual arts , Performing Arts and Gardening. Every student is entitled to enriching learning and creative thinking from areas of our Arts curriculum.Visual Art at KARVE includes Drawing and Painting.
Where words fail, music speaks – Hans Christian Anderseson
Music is a part of our society and a part of all communities. Through Music Children learn to work in teams, are harmonious, communicate better and have high levels of self-esteem, creative thinking, calmer attitudes, and imagination, discipline and study skills.
When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way. – Wayne Dyer
Dancing increases brain power and improves a child’s mental sharpness and agility and attention span. The practice of dance can reduce stress, improves mental well-being, and gives an outlet for self-expression. Dancing encourages good posture, body and mind Coordination. Commitment, communication skills, passion, perseverance, the ability to take and respond to criticism and being humble, are some skills that dancing develops in students.
No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, and no culture comparable to that of the garden – Thomas Jefferson
Environmental awareness is one of the most important aspects of education today. It helps in understanding about the environment in which we live. Environmental protection is now an imperative, forcing attention onto fuel and water conservation, soil enrichment, reforestation, recycling and organic approaches to horticulture, even at the micro level of the school back yard and the home food garden.
One can ask the question, is our modern day Garden a piece of art? A garden is a picture created after a lot of planning and organsing. It is a form of art because we select the colors and shapes and place them in a form that we think are aesthetically pleasing. A flower by itself, however lovely, colorful and beautiful cannot be called art because it is a natural thing. But once we place it in a garden with other plants and form a beautiful setting that is appealing to the eyes, and that is art.
At KARVE we have a specially designed curriculum for ages 3 to 7. We believe that digging, planting, watering, pruning, and weeding offer plenty of opportunities for non-strenuous exercise as well as fine-tuning Gross and fine motor skills. Understanding that one is responsible for the growth or decline of the plants in the garden allows him/her to see the results of being responsible, protective, gentle and self-confident. Planting and tending also improves literacy and numeracy skills as well as hands on experimentation with scientific principles.
Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression. – Dr. HiamGinnot

The curriculum sets out what every child should know and learn during their first 12 months of schooling. The focus is on physical and social development required for the child and also development of their speaking and listening skills. Each child’s need is considered to ensure age appropriate progress. This program also helps the children to become familiar with the learning process of each area of MAAP and better prepare them for progression to Nursery.
The curriculum is common set of knowledge and skills required by the students for lifelong learning that have lifetime implications. Throughout this age range, children continue to grow emotionally and socially. The children of this age group learn best through active and play based learning.
The program encourages children’s learning interest and recognition of uniqueness of each child and helps nurture an eagerness to learn as well. The aim is to foster love for learning from an early age.
The curriculum is designed with an emphasis on importance of preschool learning in laying the foundation for future. It reflects KARVE standards and incorporates Motor Skills, Language, Arts, Numeracy and Life Skills. The central aim is to close the gap in children’s preparedness for formal education to grade one.
